Surrey Company Kickstarts Employee’s Real Estate Portfolio

Property ownership remains out of reach for many Canadians due to the high cost of ownership, mortgage stress tests and the complexity of owning certain types of real estate products. That’s why addy exists: to knock down barriers to entry and enable everyone to invest in real estate. So you can imagine how thrilled we were to to learn that the leadership team at Lotus Terminals is helping their employees get started with real estate investing with our platform.

A New Way To Reward Employees

The team at Lotus Terminals in Surrey came across the latest addy property in Chilliwack and decided to gift their employees with ownership in the property based on their tenure at the company.  Each employee was gifted funds into their addy wallet based on the months of service at Lotus so that the employee could choose to invest in real estate.

Prabhjeet Bal (CEO) and Harsaran aka. Ricky Bal (In-House Counsel) run Lotus Terminals Group, one of the largest Crossdock, Freight Logistics & Trucking Companies in Greater Vancouver. By keeping customer service and hard work top priorities, Lotus Terminals is now a team of companies with over 100 trucks and trailers. The team includes Thunder Bal Distributors Ltd., Kapa Logistics Ltd., and Fraser Valley Transport Ltd.

Lotus takes its employee’s happiness, well-being and education seriously. Recently they had Angus Reid, retired CFL player and public speaker, deliver a motivational talk to the staff, followed by Dr. Keiron McConnell, Vancouver Police Officer and former Gang Squad member, talk about BC gangs.

Investing in Real Estate

Today, the team at Lotus are able to invest in real estate for as little as $1.00 and gain exposure to the real estate asset class.  The next property available on the addy platform is a commercial building in Chilliwack that has Starbucks as the tenant. Investors in this property will partake in the bi-annual distributions as well as any property appreciation.

Hi Jeff, USA residents can create an addy account, but can’t invest yet. But if you have an account you are on the list to be notified when we are ready to go!
