David Porte, President of Porte Communities, took some time out of his day to chat with addy co-founder Stephen Jagger about his career in real estate, how Porte got started and his thoughts on Calgary real estate.
About David Porte
David Porte loves real estate and cares about people, and he’s certainly no stranger to this business. He spent his formative years observing his father build this company, founded in passion and ethics, and decided that he, too, would continue this tradition. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Commerce from the Division of Urban Land at U.B.C, David began officially working for the family company in 1991.
Now, David leads Porte into the second generation, using the Porte Promises as his guide. He is actively engaged in day-to-day operations, overseeing development activities. What does David cite as the best part of his job? “Creating the backdrop of such a critical and basic part of people’s lives – providing them with well-designed places to live and work.”

About Porte
Porte has been serious about real estate since 1968. And in those 50+ years, they’ve learned they aren’t just developing or managing properties, they’re helping build communities. It’s a labour of love that carries a great amount of responsibility—one they take very seriously.
