West Kelowna opts out of provincial rules on short-term rentals

The legislation allows municipalities to opt out of the principal residency requirements if it meets certain criteria, chiefly having a vacancy rate of three per cent or higher for two consecutive years. West Kelowna’s vacancy rate was 3.4 per cent in 2022 and 4.2 per cent last year. (Castanet)

Calgary home sales up almost 23 per cent in February, prices rising

The Calgary Real Estate Board says February home sales were up nearly 23% from last year as new listings rose. The board says sales totalled 2,135 units, while the volume of sales in dollars rose 41.3% to $1.25 billion. New listings were up 13.6% to 2,711, while inventory was down just over 14% from last year. (Global News)
