Vancouver city council approves divisive Commercial-Broadway towers

Vancouver city council on Tuesday evening voted to approve a controversial three-tower proposal for the Safeway site near Commercial Drive and Broadway. The vote on the 1780 E. Canada should not rush potential sale of TMX pipeline, Trans Mountain CEO says

Canada should not rush to sell the newly expanded Trans Mountain oil pipeline, its CEO, Mark Maki, said on Wednesday at a conference in Canada. The Canadian government, which owns the pipeline and spent C$34 billion ($24.9 billion) completing an expansion that opened last spring, has indicated it does not wish to be the long-term owner of the pipeline. Empire Co. Ltd., which owns multiple grocery banners across the country including Sobeys and Safeway, will release its fourth-quarter results on Thursday before financial markets open. The company said in March that it was seeing sales of products from the U.S. “rapidly dropping” as shoppers look to support the Canadian economy and avoid the potential effects of tariffs. Carney’s task at G7 will be to keep the group alive as experts question the outcome

As Prime Minister Mark Carney gets ready to host U.S. President Donald Trump and other leaders at the G7 summit in Alberta, analysts say Canada’s most important goal will be to keep the G7 from falling apart — even if that means not issuing a joint statement.
